My fellow quirky little beauties,

| Rosy glow anyone? |
Firstly, no one knows the true cause(s) of this inflammatory
skin condition which is why there is still no cure. There are various theories determining
its disposition – some say it’s genetic, others that it’s a vascular disorder,
others that it’s a bacteria living in your digestive system that causes a protein
called ‘bradykinin’ to overproduce which in turn dilates the blood vessels causing
flushing, redness and spots or even that the cause of rosacea are little mites
living on the surface of the skin in unusual numbers (absolutely fantastic :-S!)
Of course, none of this explains why we would be having
mites on our skin or any of the above for that matter- something must have happened
in our bodies that would trigger such disasters right? However, not enough
research has gone into it to be able to cure it! God Damn those lazy buggers!
In my experience, the contraceptive pill is what seems to
have triggered my permanent misfortune (and that’s an understatement!) as I was
given a strong dosage of hormones for my petite frame which overloaded my poor,
previously stable hormones.
If you suffer from redness on your cheeks, forehead, nose or
chin and/or have visible blood vessels and/ or experience little red spots similar
to a rash that may have whiteheads, then I suggest you consult a dermatologist
and have it properly diagnosed as you may be suffering from it too.
Things like sunshine; spicy food; dairy; alcohol; chocolate/ processed sugars, seem to trigger mine but there are other triggers- Read this for a comprehensive list of triggers http://www.rosacea.org/patients/materials/triggersindex.php

It can be confused with Seborrheic Dermatis which I also seem
to have (for goodness sake- I seem to be a crap magnet!), but I will talk about
that in more detail on my next post so keep an eye out!
I once did a little experiment where I drank two litres of
water a day, ate tons of fruit and veggies took Omega 3,6 &9 supplements
from Udo’s choice along with pomegranate and chlorella tablets, plus had the
simplest skin care routine of cleansing and applying jojoba oil from MV
organics (best one I’ve found) to my skin as a moisturiser…and within a month
TADAA! wondrous improvements! But I am skin care obsessed so couldn’t resist
the temptation of buying into more unneeded, useless crap!! Shame on me…I know!
I have now come to terms with it and since stopping the pill
I am a lot less emotional about my imperfect, blemished skin… But you know what
they say: if you can beat them, join’em, at least I don’t have to apply as much
blush! And there are worse things…
